Artificial Intelligence has been making waves in our world, drawing acclaim and criticism. Despite the potential issues that could arise from its misuse, more people are looking to this technology for help with tasks like writing – freeing up their time and expanding their skillset.
There are multiple AI platforms for various purposes. Consider this: In 2021, over 15 billion words were written with AI in only one platform! Jasper, Zapier, Anyword, ChatSonic, and CopyAI are among the many platforms currently available for content writing. There are others, like Dall-e2, for visual AI assistance.
Remember that AI is still young and will improve over time. Consider the advantages and pitfalls when using Artificial Intelligence for content writing.
PITFALLS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

If you don’t provide clear rules for your automated assistant, achieving satisfactory results may be easier said than done! While Artificial Intelligence has dramatically advanced the automation process, one of its more sinister pitfalls is “hallucination.” Hallucinations occur when an AI platform does not have enough reference material and instead creates content based on conjecture. Without proper instructions or informative resources at its disposal, AI can easily create what amounts to misinformation – a classic example of garbage in/garbage out.
AI is currently in the “toddler” stage. It’s new, and it’s learning. As of this writing, AI is not “current” on all matters in the digital universe. It would be best if you researched the content outputs. If it is missing a reference point, AI will create misinformation.
The technology of AI is a powerful tool. Still, it needs direction from humans regarding matters of judgment and ethics. It’s up to us – the people who created this incredible force -to ensure proper guidelines for how our technological creations should behave.
AI is best when incorporating human experiences, stories, and optimal editing. Google is becoming more adept at recognizing content written strictly by AI. In those instances, Google may penalize search ranking.
Predictions are that AI will make waves in the workforce, yet skilled and creative human talent will remain essential. People provide a unique ability that machines cannot replicate – they use their intelligence and imaginations to exceed average expectations while bridging the gap between man and machine.
HELPFUL AI PROMPTS FOR EXCELLENT OUTPUT
Earlier, I quoted “garbage in, garbage out.” This relates to the understanding that you are working with a machine that needs clear instructions to be valid. Give your AI platform details. Be specific. Then tell AI what you want it to do or ask it to answer a question. The more information you provide, the better content will appear in the output.
An excellent way to use AI is to copy/paste the URL of an article and give AI a prompt. For example: “Write a 300-word summary of this article in the style of a professor teaching a freshman high school class”.
Give the AI examples of the type of output you want. Many platforms allow you to “teach” AI your writing voice.
Once you’ve written your content, but it needs an exciting lift, feed it into your AI platform and give it a prompt instruction like: “Rewrite this paragraph in the style of a professional chef on cooking in the sous vide method.” In this case, you should provide AI with a brief explanation of the sous vide method.
EDITING YOUR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE CONTENT
You must carefully review and edit the output before finalizing your work. Things to keep in mind:
- Eliminate any jargon; make it more human
- Change the style to reflect your point of view
- Intersperse your experiences and stories into the output
- Research any data output for errors
HELPFUL USES OF YOUR AI PLATFORM

AI is an excellent tool for brainstorming and gathering research. Examples: “I have two ideas (show them to your AI) for safe dog walking – give me two more”; or, “Give me topics of interest for people with foot neuropathy”; or “What are some safe sports activities for senior citizens besides pickleball and yoga.”
Use AI to rewrite your content into a new style. Examples:” Rewrite this paragraph in the voice of a fitness trainer,”; or “Make this paragraph funnier,”; or “Rewrite this script to be more persuasive.”
Combine your AI platform with your SEO tools to improve your search ranking for digital content.
Let AI help you write an outline. Example: “Give me an outline of 5 items that describe how color affects the psychology of advertising”. Again, in this case, you should provide some background on the color wheel.
Use it to write a script. Tell AI about a brand’s features, uses, and benefits. Then ask AI, “Act like an expert content writer, start with a bold statement, and write a 300-word script for the above product.”
Train your AI platform in your writing style to make your future writing easier. Several platforms have a “save” area where your AI will learn from you with each session.
