THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR … OR NOT

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes… for some. For others, not so much. These are unusual times and many people are spending their time recovering in a hospital or rehab after a surgery or illness.  Even when they return home, it will take time to rebuild energy and resume their normal activities. Face it, it’s hard to celebrate when you’re in the healing process so a little pampering can make your family member or friend feel a little perkier. Plus, it’s always nice to be remembered with a surprise that’s also practical!

Unfortunately, the typical gift basket may not be appropriate and flowers don’t last long. A plant doesn’t take a lot of thought and at times, more than a get-well card is desirable. Different surgeries or illnesses produce divergent needs. Picture yourself in their situation, then get your marketing brain to the task and think of unique ways to make someone a boost to feel better. Nothing is more personal than a well thought out gift. Here are a few ideas we believe will be welcomed:

  1. Comforting tea, like chamomile or matcha, along with wildflower honey sticks
  2. Adult coloring books and pencils
  3. Comfy jammies and robe
  4. Non-skid gripper slippers
  5. An uplifting book
  6. Healing herb plant like lavender or chamomile
  7. Plush neck pillow or throw
  8. Offer to tidy up their house
  9. A lap desk to use when they are in bed
  10. Lavender oil products to promote sleep; peppermint oil to lessen nausea
  11. Pampering basket with lotion, soaps, magazine, dry shampoo, lip balm
  12. Homemade soup to eat now or freeze
  13. Healing Himalayan salt block lamp
  14. Meal delivery
  15. Play chauffer to run errands

There are probably many more. Let us know what suggestions you have to brighten the day of a recuperating patient.  You will feel better knowing you’ve helped your loved one feel better!
