Marketing a business relies more and more on digital resources and advanced technology. Some of the emerging trends will become critical to keeping your brand at the forefront ahead of your competitors. This means brands need more than just traditional advertising tactics if they want more engagement for their business. It’s time for innovators to step up and join the party. Let’s take a look at some of the technologies that will be more important in 2022.
- The future of marketing is here and it’s all about the Artificial Intelligence (AI). With AI, brands can now use their own personal AI assistants to help them create a better customer experience using chatbots. For example: a company might send out an email with offers for discounts on selected products in exchange for reviews online; or ask users if they would be interested in participating in surveys through voice commands. Even within homes, we use voice commands like “hey Siri” and “hey Google” to control our television volume, answer the door, get directions, and set the temperature in our homes.
- A sure bet is that podcasting will increase in popularity. Currently over 55% of adults have consumed podcasting at least once as either a form of entertainment or marketing information. And 22% of avid podcast listeners clock in at 22 hours per week of listening! Think about how your business could take advantage of this growing trend before your competition beats you to it.
- With live streaming now possible via an app on your phone, tablet, or from your desktop, you are able to share what’s happening right at this moment while it’s still happening! Facebook Live, YouTube Live, and Twitch (a subsidiary of Amazon that streams gaming live) are some of the more popular streaming avenues.
- Video content has never been more important and thankfully, easier because of services such as YouTube where people upload their own short films completely free of charge-giving. This gives everyone access whether they have one hundred or 10 thousand followers. There are also apps that will assist you in creating content for your social media pages that will provide higher reach and engagement with relatable video. Check out Biteable or Vimeo, both offering a large stock of template videos for a reasonable fee.
- Social media platforms continue to become smarter with each algorithm adjustment. Our Facebook profiles learn what we like to see and increases our feed with similar content posts and ads. The more we engage with a particular post or page, the more we will see from that business, friend, or advertisement. And the more we share a post, FB will recognize that post as popular and continue to go viral. Personalized marketing will grow in 2022.
- Geo-targeting may sound like big brother with its inherent targeting platform, however it’s a great way to find your ideal customers with relevant messaging. Geo-targeting is simply a location-based algorithm tool to reach your customer at the right time in the right place. Since the ad is served only to a user fitting your profile customer, there is a better chance of reach a real prospect. Example: a user who has digitally executed a car search, drives by a dealership and is then served an auto ad. It’s relevant. Another: a user searches for a restaurant and is served an ad for a dining spot. It’s answering a need. Even more hyperlocal is geo-fencing … that restaurant ad serves in a radius surrounding the user search. It’s not only relevant, it’s convenient!
If you’re not using these trends, start exploring how to include at least one into your strategy. There are several more in the pipeline so it’s wise to get on board early to get ahead of your competition. Good marketing looks easy however you already know it’s a challenge to find the right messaging. These 6 ideas may help gain your targeted customers and that’s what it’s all about!
